Iowa Review – 2020 Ford Edge
The 2020 Ford Edge is the world’s most luxurious “practical” family SUV. It has earned itself a 2020 IIHS Top Safety Pick for its smart, tech savvy driver-assist features, given us a revamped and much more futuristic and athletic build, and of course, it’s serving Iowa online with a tremendous chance at value. Our Iowa review of the 2020 Ford Edge is available for all of you out there who appreciate an SUV crossover that knows its strengths and dutifully exceeds even those. You can contact Brad Deery Ford with any questions you might have about the Edge. 2020’s trims include the SE, SEL, ST-Line, Titanium, and ST.
Exterior – 2020 Ford Edge
The new color menu hints at the upscale nature of the 2020 Edge. Choose from Rapid Red, Dark Persian Green, Agate Black, Atlas Blue, and Star White (among many other upscale colors). This is the Edge at its most refined and grown up, with a chiseled front end that is less circular and more angled but organized. One look at the new grille and you’ll know this Edge has an edge over its ancestors. It’s simply beautiful. This year’s base model gets BI-LED low and high beam headlamps, a body-color rear spoiler, bright grille, and black exterior mirror caps (along with a host of body-color features. You can pick up functional features like black roof rack side rails too! Flash forward to the top tier ST, and you won’t believe how good it gets. Starting at just $43,265, you’ll appreciate a gloss black-painted mesh grille with an ST logo, LED fog lamps, intermittent speed-sensitive front windshield wipers, LED signature lighting all the way around (including the beautiful amber turn signals), and privacy glass on rear doors. Throw in a power auto liftgate, and you’ve got a beautiful combination of function and form here. The ST offers an optional panoramic Vista roof that our customers won’t want to miss out on, too.
Interior – 2020 Ford Edge in Maquoketa Iowa
The base model SE is already one of your nicest 5-seater SUVs in the businesses. It features dual-zone automatic climate control, a SYNC 3 infotainment system with pinch-to-zoom functionality, and Siri integration. A carbon particulate air filter keeps your air clean and fresh to breathe for the entire family. You’ll get convenience and comfort features like cargo area management system, cargo area LED lights, and even Intelligent Access with Push-button start. The front seats are cloth and recline beautifully, but most impressive is a 10-way power driver’s seat on the SE base model. So you can only imagine how luxurious things are by the time we get to the ST. It features gorgeous and soothing ambient lighting, leather-trimmed seats with Miko inserts, heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats, and a second row EasyFold seat.
Mechanical – Ford Edge specs in Maquoketa Iowa
The 8-speed automatic transmission on the Edge is a one-size-fits-all solution for most people. Ford was generous to give this one a bump in gears for a more all around smoother performance without making the price too expensive by going all the way to a 10. You’ll find that the gearbox on this one is 100% suited for its acceleration style and torque ratings. It’s almost as if Ford is amazing at what they do!
Powertrain – Ford Edge specs in Maquoketa Iowa
The versatile Edge starts out at 250 horsepower via its Twin-Scroll 2.0L EcoBoost engine, but it is capable of getting up to 335 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque on its ST model’s 2.7L V6 EcoBoost engine. People have been singing the praises of the EcoBoost line for many years now, and no model showcases the power of these engines better than the Ford Edge. It’s simply heavenly to drive. This year’s Edge gives you a choice between power at a value or power with no restrictions. You decide which one is worth it! That Ford gave you more than one engine choice reveals that it has a lot of love for its Edge and sees a bright future for the model.
Safety – 2020 Ford Edge dealer
Ford’s Co-Pilot360 safety platform continues to expand this year on the Edge. The base model SE comes with this system standard. Enjoy auto high beam headlamps, BLIS blind spot information system, cross-traffic alert, and lane keeping system. This platform also features another life saving feature this year: Pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking. The intelligence of your Edge just continues to go up in leaps and bounds every year. The 2020 model is the safest of them all, and it definitely earned its spot as a Top Safety Pick. We expect it to only get more advanced as years go on. The Ford Edge’s interior system is equipped with a remarkable hands-free voice activation system, so you never need to mess too much with auxiliary buttons here. This is the future of Ford. They want you to be able to tell your Edge what you need and then have it respond. They certainly succeeded in doing that this year, so we can only imagine what’s to come for the Edge.
